Innovativeness is a
deeply ingrained trait in all societies. Across
the world, a few societies have realised the
need to foster cultural appreciation of
innovation and creativity. L-RAMP works to
recognize and celebrate all sections that have a
stake in innovation and play a key role. This
leads to cultural appreciation of innovation and
contributes to the creation of a thriving
culture of innovation.
L-RAMP
Award of Excellence
The L-RAMP Award of Excellence is our flagship
initiative for recognition of the role played by
the various stakeholders in innovation.
The purpose of the L-RAMP
Award of Excellence is to celebrate the spirit
of innovation and to recognise individuals
and institutions that have been instrumental
in developing and disseminating innovations.
Introduced in 2005,
the scope of the L-RAMP Award of Excellence
was significantly expanded in 2006.
L-RAMP Awards 2006
The 2nd L-RAMP Innovation Awards was launched
on June 14, 2006 with advertisements in major
newspapers in English and Tamil.
In the 2nd edition of the awards, L-RAMP added
more categories under which stakeholders playing
an exemplary role were recognised. The award
categories include Grassroots Innovator Award,
Young Innovator Award, Woman Innovator Award,
Enterprise Award, Media/Journalist Award,
Investor Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
A total of 604 applications were received;
an overwhelming majority of them from Tamil
Nadu. L-RAMP team members handled preliminary
screening of the applications. Subsequent
screening of applications was undertaken by
the Steering Committee Members. The Steering
Committee selected 32 applicants to be invited
for making short presentations about their
innovative ideas or enterprises before an
eminent jury on September 23, 2006. The jury
selected the final awardees from these 32
applicants.

L-RAMP Awards 2005
The Awards Programme was launched on April
29, 2005, with a call for entries. In response
to the call, nearly 450 applications poured
in from all over Tamil Nadu. After a rigorous
screening process, short-listed candidates
were invited to make a presentation to the
L-RAMP jury, comprised of eminent individuals
from Tamil Nadu, recognized as authorities
in their fields.
Two kinds of awards were given:
1. A Certificate of Excellence, with a trophy
and Rs. 15,000/- cash prize
2. Certificates of Appreciation
L-RAMP Innovators Award winners will be given
Rs.15, 000/- each, along with a “Certificate
of Excellence”. Additionally, six innovators
have been selected for special recognition
and they will be given Rs.1, 000/- each along
with “Certificate of Appreciation.”
